Although A. Edward Newton's copy had no advertisements, this particular copy has four pages of advertisements located at the end of the work. This volume most likely contains more of the material for which Edgar Allan Poe is famous for than any other single work published during his lifetime.
A volume of utmost rarity, this copy, in the original cloth, shows relatively minor wear for its age. The interior pages are clean and bright with some foxing and toning as shown. There is no writing or underlining present on the interior pages, besides a small marking in light pen located in the upper right hand corner of the front end leaf (photo #12). The extremities are worn, spine chipped at top and bottom and along hinges. The corners are bumped and frayed. There is some fading / shelf wear and staining present on front and rear boards. The spine is lightly faded, with the gilt titles still present and clear. There is a stain that runs through the bottom end of the hinge side of interior pages is present as shown, but it has little to no effect on the integrity of the book.
