Where the Wild Things Are

By Sendak, Maurice

Published by Harper & Row Publishers, New York, 1963

Presented here is the scarce, true first printing of Sendak's most famous work. This particular copy was previously owned by Helen T. Fay, Aunt of Maurice Sendak. Included is a signed post-card from 1970, which mentions the writing and publishing of his first illustrated picture book proceeding the publishing of 'Where the Wild Things Are,' which was titled 'In the Night Kitchen.' Also included is an original sketch drawing by Sendak, which was included in the gifting of his first edition copy to his Aunt Helen in 1970.

A volume of utmost rarity, this copy is preserved in its original cloth and the original dust-wrapper. The interior pages are clean with no writing, underlining or highlighting. The beautiful front and rear end-papers are un-marked. The binding and hinges are in strong condition. There is some minor shelf wear, foxing and some small tears to the dust-wrapper as shown. The bottom of the front flap is clipped, with the original price of $3.50 still present to the top left corner. The dust-wrapper is protected in a high quality mylar sleeve.
